Karra Kostya Photography offers pet portrait photography for pet parents who want portrait based memories of their furry best friend, for the day when their pet can no longer be by their side.
Every pet deserves to have their life remembered.
How will you remember your pet?
- A pre session consultation to determine how we can customize your session to your pets' needs!
- A questionnaire designed to help me guide session location selection and get to know your pets' temperament(s)
- In person ordering appointment 1-2 weeks after your session.
Yay! You want photographs of your best four legged friend! Professional images of your pet will give you a time capsule of your time together with your pet.
First things first, what are your goals for the session? A piece of wall art? An album? Images to display on your mantel?
Next, do you know what type of session you want - Outdoor, studio or end of life?
All of these things are discussed at your preconsultation phone call.
To ensure your pet's safety we ask all our pet clients some basic questions about temperament, vaccinations etc..
We ask this so we can help guide you to your best location for your pet and their individual needs. Our pet sessions take place on the weekends at one of our local outdoor venues. When health situations allow, we do allow for in home sessions.
. If your pet has been given a terminal diagnosis, we encourage you to reach out as soon as possible., don't wait.
The day of your session we encourage you to prepare your pet by grooming them and giving them a little extra excerise which will help take some of the spunk of of their step. You know your pet best as to how much will be enough!
Today is the day to bring out that new collar so they look their best!

I hear this a lot. I completely understand. I can tell you that we can do more that just sitting poses. If you are concerned about your pet not being obedient, all pet parents need to have their pets leashed at all time when we are in public with your pets. I digitally remove leashes and collars as best as possible in the editing process.
When you book your session, I electronically send you a questionnaire about your pet's temperament. This questionnaire helps me to better understand your pet(s) needs so I can better recommend locations for your session.
A Phoenix session is designed for those pets who have received a terminal diagnosis or is above the age of 12 years old. If there are other pets in the home, they can be included in a group photo however, this session allows for the pet to be the star of their session. Typically, these sessions are less busy and are slower to allow for the pet to get comfortable and feel safe.
I recommend pets to be groomed, either professionally or by you, prior to their session. If you are going to have your pet's fur clipped, I suggest that you do this a week or so before your session. I highly recommend your pet wear a nice collar for their session as collars are not always removable in the editing process.
It's Kansas so don't wear sweaters in July or shorts in January...Seriously, dress for the weather and wear clothes that are comfortable and not too tight. Neutrals are best - blacks, greys, beiges, & burgundies. Avoid clothes with logos or loud prints or colors as these don't tend to age well. Jeans and comfortable shoes are always a good idea - especially if we are going to a more natural area like a park.
